Sewing Workshops and Camps for Kids 8 and up!
Join us on Pro-D Days and during Spring, Summer and Winter break for weekly workshops and multi-day camps. Workshops are suitable for both new and returning students. No previous sewing experience required. Our multi-day camps are for returning students that have taken at least 1 workshop with us.

Pro D Day & Spring Break Workshops (Ages 8+)
(Recommended for new sewers)
New sewers will make a complete project all the while learning how to use a sewing machine. This will include how to sew a straight and curved line, seam allowances, and seam finishes.
Sewers can take as many workshops as they like; all are unique and offer amazing starter projects. All supplies included. Student must be 8+.
Prerequisite: No sewing experience required.
Note: $5 one-time registration fee applied for New Students.
Students taking both morning and afternoon workshops are welcome to stay for lunch at the studio. Early drop off & late pick up available upon request at a $5 fee.

Spring Break Camps (Ages 8+)
In La Movida’s multi-day camps, sewers will be encouraged to customize their projects for personal fit and style. We have introduced different variations of some of our projects to accommodate all levels of sewers! Students are always given the opportunity to choose their own fabrics from a wide selection provided by our in house design team. Fabric selections are based on the most suitable as well as seasonal colours and prints.
Fabric cost NOT included. For convenience, students can purchase fabric from us at 20% off the retail price on the first day of camp. Students are also welcome to bring their own fabric as long as it’s suitable for the project.
We offer two camps each week, 9:30-12:30pm and 1:30-4:30pm. Join us for 1 or both morning and afternoon camps. Bring your lunch and stay for a full day of sewing! Camps are suitable for kids 8 and up.

What You Will Learn
March 18 – 21
Tuesday – Friday
9:30-12:30pm
Create a stylish duffle bag, perfect for trips and sleepovers, featuring a zipper closure, outer pocket, and box bottom for extra space. Learn essential skills like sewing zippers, pattern placement, and proper cutting, all while choosing from our curated selection of sturdy fabrics. Students will also get to design a unique coin pouch with instructor-created patterns and room for customization. Both projects are fun, practical, and tailored to showcase the student’s creativity!

March 18 – 21
Monday and Tuesday
1:30-4:30pm
Learn to sew the perfect spring dress in this fun and creative sewing camp! Students will learn how to take personal measurements to ensure the best fit and explore options to make the dress truly unique. Choose from short or long sleeves, adjustable dress lengths, and a variety of fabric and colour choices. Plus, add the option to sew a coordinating waist tie for an extra stylish touch!

March 25 – 28
Thursday and Friday
9:30-12:30pm
Get ready to sew the Sunday Best top with two styles to choose from! Whether students go for the classic button-front design with notched collars or the bow-front closure with a rounded neckline, this project is sure to impress. They can also customize their look by selecting either a regular or cropped length. Inspired by the latest fashion trends, this project is the perfect next level project for beginners to build their confidence. Students will learn how to sew a garment that reflects their personal style—fashionable, fun, and uniquely theirs!

March 25 – 28
Thursday and Friday
1:30-4:30pm
Join us for one of our most popular sewing projects—the classic bomber jacket! With step-by-step guidance, students will sew a fully lined jacket complete with side seam pockets and even learn how to sew in a zipper. They have the freedom to choose their desired length (regular or cropped) and make design choices—from the outer fabric and inside lining to the cuffs. With plenty of fabrics and colours to choose from, this camp inspires creativity and offers a super fun experience for the students!

Fashion Illustration Program Information
Course Description
Budding fashion designers can hone in their fashion illustration skills, one of the most important skill to becoming a fashion designer. Students will learn about body proportions, fabric rendering, drawing various clothing shapes and styles, working with professional illustration tools, and much more.
Students will have access to our large library of resources, such as take home worksheets for students to practice outside of class and improve their skills.
No drawing experience required!
Note: Returning students will learn more extensive and advanced skills.
Course Outline
Class 1: Working with a Fashion Croquis – Go over the fundamentals of illustration
Class 2: Body Proportion – Learn about drawing human proportions and how to fashion illustrations play with proportions
Class 3: Head Shape – Learn about the basic head shape and the ratio of facial proportions
Class 4: Facial Features – Learn and practice drawing facial features.
Class 5: Hair – How to implement hair into an illustration. Learn about different hair shapes and styles
Class 6: Hands – Learn the proportions of a hand and ways of simplifying a hand in an illustration
Class 7: Clothes – Learn about shapes and styles of clothing and how to draw them onto a croquis
Class 8: Fabric Rendering – Learn about various fabric prints and textures and how to draw them
Class 9: Illustration Tools – Learn how to work with markers, and other colouring supplies
Class 10: Fashion Drawing – Gain confidence in adding clothing and other details to a croquis to create a fashion drawing
