We’re currently looking for a Front of House Superstar — someone who’s organized, detail-driven, stylish, and enthusiastic about design and customer experience. If you’re a people person with a passion for creativity, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
● Opening and closing the studio
● Provide excellent customer service to shoppers, parents, and students
● Manage phone inquiries about class offerings and fabrics/notions
● Assist customers with class registration process
● Cashier duties including sales input, managing cash, organizing receipts for monthly bookkeeping
● Measuring and cutting fabric
● Restock and manage inventory of retail products, studio, office, and cleaning supplies
● Assist instructors with class preparations (eg. pre cutting fabric for workshops)
● Assist with set up and clean up of classes and events as needed
● Ability to work independently and take initiative
● Assist with visual merchandising (wall and window displays)
● Overall studio maintenance and up-keeping duties
Qualifications and Requirements:
● General knowledge in fabrics is an asset
● Have an interest in sewing and fashion
● Background in customer service is an asset
● Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
● Great attention to detail and problem solving skills
● Excellent written and verbal communication
● Basic computer skills required (eg. email correspondence, Google applications, etc)
● Ability to learn a new software program as needed
This is a part-time position for 3 days a week and may lead to a full-time position for the right candidate.

$19/hour or negotiable depending on experience.
We are currently seeking a creative, motivated and positive sewing instructor for our kids and teen students to teach over the Summer months (June thru August). This is a part-time position with an average of 20-25 hours per week with a starting wage of $19/hour. After 3 months of employment, there will be a performance review and the possibility to become a permanent part of our team. Our quickly growing business offers a lot of opportunity for growth. La Movida’s instructional style has been designed to make sewing for the absolute beginner, to the very experienced sewer, easy and fun. Our classes are for kids 8+ and adults, with the majority of instruction for children and teens. As a La Movida Instructor you will be trained in our dynamic instructional style at our Kitsilano studio. This position requires, but is not limited to the following:
- Some experience instructing: we instruct a variety of sewing classes for kids, teens and adults, for all skill levels with a minimum of 4 students per class.
- Sewing and textile expertise: we are happy to train the right candidate in any area they are not comfortable in, but experience in sewing is required.
- Must have a post secondary diploma in Fashion or have equivalent sewing experience (minimum 5 years of sewing experience.)
- A customer service focused mentality: we pride ourselves on an exceptional experience for both students and customers in the studio.
- Garment construction: strong problem solving skills are a must with the ability to figure out alterations.
- Confident in using, teaching, and troubleshooting sewing machines and sergers.
- Up to date with current fashion trends and have knowledge in the fashion industry, including fashion history.
- An organized multi-tasker: able to juggle organizing studio tasks and meticulous class prep alongside knowing what is going on in the studio at all times.
- Excellent Communication: as an instructor you will not only be interacting with students of all ages, you will also be liaising with customers and our team via email, report cards, phone calls, and in person.
- Basic computer knowledge is an asset.
- Have experience pattern drafting and sample making.

Hours: Available to work weekdays Monday thru Friday | Weekly schedule may vary depending on business needs. This is a part-time contract employment for June thru August.
