Halloween 2026 Sewing Inspo

October 12, 2026
Halloween Sewing Trends

At the sewing studio we get a lot of walk-ins this time of year with beginner sewists wanting to make their own custom Halloween costume, which is always really fun to help out with.

With the release of our Onesie Sewing Pattern, I was hopeful that sewing your own costume would be easier than ever. Our Onesie sewing pattern comes with a full video sewing tutorial and makes the perfect base for any sort of character you could dream of!

Here is my Sewing Inspo what will be Popular this Halloween!

Bugs

So on trend that my best friend had a bug themed birthday party this year!

Lots of potential here to just make an outfit from found & thrifted items.

But if you’re crafty and want to be cozy for halloween, here is my bug sewing inspo!

Sewing Recommendations;

  • Pipe cleaners are a cheap and effective way to thread through adjustable antennas.
  • Make your wings detachable for easy laundering

Fugglers

I had no idea what these things were till I went to my niece’s birthday party and she got a few. These weird looking dolls are one of the trendiest toys right now and they would be super cute to make into a onesie!

These are so customizable so you don’t have to follow just one example, you could basically make up your own with the materials you can find.

Sewing Recommendations:

  • Choose one with Button Eyes for easy sewing
  • Craft their teeth from craft foam or model magic so it isnt too heavy, leave a hole at the top to hand sew them on & sew a lip flap over top to hide it.

Spider-man : Brand New Day

A spiderman onesie will never go out of style.

To make this you would need blue, black, white, and red polar fleece.

You can print out a stencil for the spiderman logo to trace onto your black fleece.

Add the white & black iconic oval shaped eyes to your hood, and cut long strips of black to topstitch on (I would add all these appliques while your pieces are flat, so before you sew together the onesie, but after you cut).

Toy Story 5

Pixar did it again! I love toy story and it is a classic costume to have ( I actually did buzz light year a few years back)!

Choose your character wisely though, some will take a lot more time and patience due to the amount of appliques required.

Minions

Honestly, I would only do this one if I wanted to make my friends roll their eyes.

You would need yellow, blue, black, and white fleece. The hood would need an eyeball & you would have to craft a mock overall top to go over the front seam.
